Also check if you have any software already installed what could conflict with the operation of the DKP. (See also: What softwares can conflict with the operation of the Dolphin Knight P?). Please follow the related instructions if you have any conflicting software. Ensure if you are logged in as administrator or if you have the administrator rights before start the setup. (See also: How to check if I have the Administrator rights?) Close all the running applications and windows to prepare the setup for the DKP. Start the downloader software from the Dolphin webpage or from the setup disc. (dkpSetup.exe). Follow the setup steps according the setup wizard instructions. The setup process will request to restart the PC after the first part of the setup completed. After the restart login again with Administrator privileges so the setup process will continue to proceed. At the end of the setup process the window of the Dolphin Knight P will appear. This window show you that the setup is completed.
The Hardware requirements of the Dolphin Knight P?
The Dolphin Knight P is supported to setup on any 32 bit Microsoft Windows operation systems. These are the next Operation Systems:
How to register the Dolphin Knight P?

Open the Control Panel / Users window. Select among the listed User the one you are used for the current log-in. The type of the account can be "Administrator" or "Standard user". Your account should be Administrator to have the sufficient right to setup the Dolphin Knight P.
What components are installing to you machine during the setup?
The following components will be setup to your machine during the setup:
What is the goal of the parental password?
The parental password is the master password to change the setup of the Dolphin Knight P software. If the DKP is running the settings can be changed with this password only. Do not provide this password to the children. This password is mandatory to be created at the first start of the program or the setup.
What is the initiation process during the first run?
This action is about to setup the default running environment where you want to use the Dolphin Knight P. The DKP is discovering the running applications in this state and it is adding them to the default environment list. These programs will be allowed to run without further approval later. The list of the allowed programs can be changed with the parental password anytime later. (See also: What does the White List operation mean?)
How to complete the initiation properly?
It is recommended to wait until the system is booting up completely. (all the usual system icons are appearing on the right bottom corner) Close every applications and windows what we do not want to use in the default environment. It is recommended to close the those applications what are not part of the operation systems. (e.g. media players chat programs, etc). The network connections, printer connections, etc. are part of the operating system, they do not have to switched off.
Turn off all the applications what can change the running environment or the running of the operation system. These are like the Task Manager, Control Panel, Service Manager, Firewall Administration window or any other 3rd party application what is managing the run or the operation of the programs. (Total Commander, Norton Commander, etc) The initiation can be started after the above mentioned tasks were completed. It can be started from the first start wizard with the Initialize now button. As the result the DKP registers the running application to the white list of the programs. (See also: What does the White List operation mean?).

What does the White List operation mean?
The White List consists the programs and applications what are allowed to run while the Dolphin Knight P is switched on. Other applications what are not on the white list are blocked by the Dolphin Knight P by default. It is recommended for the parents to allow only few applications what they are decided to safe for their children. Dolphin Knight will be blocking everything else thus help the parents to protect their children from the unwanted programs without blocking those one by one.
How does the URL blocking work?
The Dolphin Knight P blocks the URL (the address or the link of the webpage) of the web page if it is listed in full or partly formats in the Blocked URL List. This blocking is independent from the content of the web page. Those pages where the URL consists potentially dangerous contents (pornography, violence, etc) are blocked by default because of this rule. These pages are being changed to a neutral default information page in the browser. However the pages with neutral URL can consist dangerous content. Those web pages are filtered with the key expression filtering function of the DKP. (See also: How does the keyword expression filtering work?)
How does the keyword expression filtering work?
That web pages which did not blocked by URL filtering (See also: How does the URL blocking work?), will be checked by the keyword-based content filter. The keyword or expression filtering blocks the page if it consists unwanted words over a minimum amount. This blocking is not starting by the first instance in every case but multiple instances to avoid false positive filtering. The strictness of this policy can be configured with the parental password.
How does the chat filter work?
The chat filter (e.g. MSN filter) is analyzing the content of the chat conversations by regular expressions. The parents can setup these regular expressions one by one. The Dolphin Knight P software is supervising if the defined regular expressions are occurring during the chat conversation. If a match happen with any unwanted expression the Dolphin Knight P software sends a warning to the child. If the unwanted expression will be repeated after the warning the Dolphin Knight P will block the chat conversation. This function allow to block any unwanted topics in the conversation like bad language and also it can prevent that criminals could turn the conversation to unwanted direction with the children. All the conversation details will be recorded to the conversation log so the parents can check these logs later too. As these conversations can be long the software can make a post processing on them. The dangerous or suspicious expressions can be highlighted and the related conversation can be collected easy with this post procession function.
How does the e-mail logging work?
The Dolphin Knight P copy every locally sent and received e-mails when the DKP is running. This is not including the e-mails what are received or sent via a remote or web based e-mail system. The web based or the remote e-mail service can be supervised with the other functions of the DKP concretely the URL blocking. (See also: How does the URL blocking work?, How does the keyword expression filtering work?), the keyword filtering (lásd: How does the keyword expression filtering work?), the alarming function (See also: How does the alarming function work?) and the picture upload blocking (See also: How does the picture upload blocking work?.
I switched on the E-mail logging but no e-mails are appearing. What is wrong?
The web e-mail systems can be used two different ways by general. The one way is to use the web surface of the e-mail system from a local browser. The other is to use a local e-mail client software (Outlook Express, etc) to exchange e-mails with the remote web server. The e-mail logging function of the DKP is working in the second case only. (See also: How does the e-mail logging work?).
How does the alarming function work?
The alarming feature monitoring the chat channels (MSN, IRC, Facebook Chat, etc) and the forms filled during the web browsing. The alarming feature monitoring these communications and looking for predefined words and expressions. These words and expressions can be configured and tailor made by the parents in the software. If there is a match during the monitoring the software will send an alarming e-mail to a preconfigured e-mail address of the parents. The parents than can check the alarm lists from a remote locations. In essence the goal of the alarming function is to warn the parents if the preconfigured important events are happening. These events can be that a children is setting up personal meeting with strangers or sharing personal information you do not want to share eg Bank Account or security codes. (See also: How does the chat filter work?).
How does the picture filtering works?
The pages what are not blocked by the URL filtering (See also: How does the URL blocking work?), or the keyword expression filtering (See also: How does the keyword expression filtering work?) are would be allowed by the content. However the software also checking the pictures of these pages for nudity. The pictures are blocked - changed with a Dolphin Knight logo – if they are considered to adult content. (See also: What pictures considered to adult content by the Dolphin Knight P?). The other case when the picture showing to a hyperlink what would take the browser to an unwanted URL defined in the blocked URL list.
How does the picture upload blocking work?
The Dolphin Knight P blocks the upload of the pictures to the web and also to attach them to the web based e-mails. In these cases the original picture replaced with a Dolphin Knight Logo by the software. (See also: What does the blocking mean in case of the pictures?). The original picture stored by the software and the parents can check it in the Image content / Uploads section of the software. Also in this section the parents can decide if the original picture is allowed to upload or stay blocked. If the picture is confirmed by the parents the upload should be repeated and it will not be blocked anymore. The software stores the original pictures for 30 days waiting for the confirmation. Only the confirmed picture can be upload and in the original version. If the original picture format is changed that should be confirmed again by the parents.
What pictures considered to adult content by the Dolphin Knight P?
The Dolphin Knight P considers to adult content the pictures related to nudity, pornography or provocative. The algorithm accuracy is less than 100%.
What does the blocking mean in case of the pictures?
The Dolphin Knight P replace the original pictures with the Dolphin Knight logo. The original pictures are erased.
Some web pages are blocked but I want them to be accessed by my children. What should I do?
It can happen that some preventive or education related URL are blocked because of the language or the pictures are used on them. For example education pages about drugs or sexuality for the teenagers. If we want to enable these pages their URL should be added to the allowed URL list. After that the DKP will allow this page until further changes. In other words if the parent allows a page it overrates the DKP decision process. (See also: How to add the URLs to the allow or the blocking list?)
How to add the URLs to the allow or the blocking list?
The URL addresses can be very complex and they can be changing time to time. It is very frequent that the URL consists some parts what related to the content. For example if the link consists the "sex" word than probably it will point to a page with sexual content. Thus with the "sex" filter expression you can cover all combinations of the URLs with "sex" words in it. There are also many web pages where the URL name is not related to the harmful content. In these cases it is recommended to put the domain name of the page between the stars, for example "*teens.com*". The "teens" word itself would result to many matches on the web but with the ".com" it defines the whole and exact domain. (See also: Why is it recommended to put the URLs between stars?<)
Why is it recommended to put the URLs between stars?
The star and the question mark are so called wild card characters. The question mark can substitute one random character while the star can substitute more or so called string of characters. The stars are recommended to avoid the changes of the URLs. As the stars are substituting any character strings the "*anything*" will match every pages what consists the word "anything" anywhere in the link. For example the *porn.com* expression in the URL blocking list will block any subpages of the "porn.com" page like "porn.com/other.php" or the full domain name the "www.porn.com". It will cover all the combinations as the stars are before and after the expressions. You can find further URL filtering instruction in the User Manual documentation. (See also: How to add the URLs to the allow or the blocking list?)
The search engine in the browser is not giving back any results. The children can not search on the net. What should I do?
There are specific searches where the results are blocked by the Dolphin Knight P software. As these results are consisting adult or harmful content. This is what we call "granny" problem. If you type "granny" to the Google search page the first results will be related to porn or sex. (This is one important reason why we need to use the Dolphin Knight P software.) This result list is blocked by the Dolphin Knight because of the adult content. To avoid this blocking it is recommended to add the search engine page – for example "google.com" – to the allowed URL list. All the results will appear after this in the search engine. The resulted web pages found with the adult content will be still blocked if the children will try to open them. (See also: Some web pages are blocked but I want them to be accessed by my children. What should I do?, How to add the URLs to the allow or the blocking list?)
The Internet Filtering is switched on but harmful content still accessible. What should I do?
Check if the operation system is compatible with the Dolphin Knight P. (See also: The Hardware requirements of the Dolphin Knight P?) Check the User Manual if everything went properly with the install. (See also: How to setup the Dolphin Knight P?) Check if the URLs and the keyword expressions are configured properly. (See also: How to add the URLs to the allow or the blocking list?, How does the keyword expression filtering work. Check if there are no conflicting softwares are running.(See also: What softwares can conflict with the operation of the Dolphin Knight P?)
What softwares can conflict with the operation of the Dolphin Knight P?
The operation of the Dolphin Knight P can conflict with other security softwares. These are generally a special kind of antivirus, antispyware, firewall or other children protection and security softwares. Most of the times these conflicts can be fixed with change some configuration paramaters of the conflicting softwares or switch of a conflicting function of it. We recommend to follow the next steps in case you are experiencing software conflict issues. If you experience the malfunction - for example the URL or the keyword protection is switched on but it is not blocking - than switch off the protection of the other software. It that solve the problem you can double check the issue with switching back the conflicting software. Most of the cases the packet filtering or the web filtering modules should be configured or switched off on the other software to overcome the conflicting.
